Frequently Asked Questions — How to Ride METRO

On this page, you can get answers to common questions about riding METRO, all in one place.

Riding Microtransit

Absolutely! This service is open to everyone and perfect for group rides.

Texas law requires that children be secured in an appropriate car seat or booster seat until a regular seat belt fits them properly. Below are the requirements for children to ride based on age and height:

  • Children under the age of 2 must be secured in a rear-facing car seat
  • Children ages 2-4 must be secured in a forward-facing car seat with a five-point-harness
  • Children over the age of 4 must be secured in a booster seat until they are 4 feet 9 inches tall
  • Children 4 feet 9 inches or taller should remain in the backseat of the vehicle with a seat belt

We're unable to provide booster or car seats, so you'll need to bring your own for any children who require them.

Service animals are always welcome. For other pets, please check with customer service for the specific pet policy in your area. Please speak with your driver when they arrive to confirm it's acceptable and remember to follow this pet etiquette:

  • Pets aren't allowed on seats
  • Your pet must stay on your lap or on the floor between your legs at all times
  • Pets must remain inside the vehicle at all times

While the microtransit shuttle doesn't accommodate wheelchairs and other large accessibility equipment, you can still book your ride using the app. You must select the "Accessibility Needed" button when you book your trip, to request assistance.
